In the shoes of an Olympiad

It takes hard work, dedication and let’s be realistic, most people don’t love their jobs every day of the week, month and year, but we know that performance pays off.

Muhammad Ali once said: “I hated every minute of training, but I said, ‘Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion’.” It’s always worth putting yourself in the shoes of an Olympiad for a moment for a little performance related thought:

Hitting targets

Whether they are weekly, monthly or yearly, try to think like a boxer – go the distance; get the final knockout and the prize is always worth the effort.

Smashing records

Do the training and the legwork, be prepared, devise a strategy and like a 100m sprinter, be the first to cross the line, breaking records along the way.

Aiming high

For those willing to go above and beyond in their professional life, taking a high jump in terms of performance can send you soaring ahead of your competitors.

Taking risks

Diver Tom Daley takes a risk every time he dives off a diving board but it’s a calculated risk backed by the years of training he’s under taken.

The owners of Red Letter Days - Peter Jones and Theo Paphitis, who have been known to take few risks, said: “You must empower your staff to act and take risks on behalf of the business. Sure, mistakes will be made, but without taking calculated risks a business will find it very difficult to exceed expectations.”
